Jim Clarke, candidate for re-election to Culver City City Council, is buoyed by the many organization endorsements he has received in recent weeks. Early endorsements were received from Congresswoman Karen Bass and State Senator Holly Mitchell, in addition to the Chamber of Commerce and the Culver City Democratic Club. The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor AFL-CIO and the Los Angeles County Democratic Party also voted to endorse him for re-election. In the last couple of weeks the Sierra Club Angeles Chapter, the Culver City Employees Association, the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters, the Los Angeles Business Federation, the Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Association of Realtors, and Southern California Americans for Democratic Action have added their names to the long list of supporters for the candidate.
“I am very grateful for the outpouring of support I have received throughout the community,” Jim said. “It is reaffirming that from the neighbors I meet on my almost daily walks around the city, to the endorsing organizations who interviewed the candidates, constituents think I have been a responsible councilmember and want me back. I am looking forward to serving them for another four years.”
A fundraiser for Jim’s campaign is only a week away on Wednesday, March 19th at the Culver Hotel. There is still time to make a reservation, which is a must due to space limitations. The event will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and includes entertainment by Ronnie Jayne, an abundance of hors d’oeuvres, no host bar, a silent auction prizes and surprises. The cost is $50 a person or $80 a couple (couple of what doesn’t matter). RSVP at clarke4council2014.com/rsvp.
Jim won a seat on the council in 2012 when, for the first time, four out of five seats needed to be filled. Since he was elected to the unexpired term of a councilmember who resigned his position, Jim is up for election again after only two years.
