CCHS Model for Success

A team of district and site leaders will be visiting Culver City Unified School District on Friday to learn more about the culture of high expectations and high achievement at our high school. The superintendent of Berkeley Unified reached out and requested the visit, in part, due to a research report by the Education Trust-West that identified and profiled CCHS for producing promising outcomes for African-American students.

CCHS was cited for creating a culture of high expectations in which college-going is the norm, including numerous activities that reinforce a that culture. “These include ‘college-wear Thursdays;’ an annual ‘Achievement Assembly’ when college-admitted seniors share advice with freshman students on how to be successful at Culver City High School; and teacher supports, such as college essay-writing workshops,” the report said

In addition, the report indicated that CCHS has created student service-oriented activities that foster a positive and supportive student culture.
