The United Parents of Culver City (UPCC), the parent-run organization dedicated to advocating for the interests of Culver City students, is proud to report that “Parents’ Choice” candidates Kathy Paspalis, Sue Robins and Steve Levin each won a seat on the Culver City School board.
In a letter to UPCC members and supporters, UPCC President Jeannine Wisnosky Stehlin said, “Congratulations and thank you! We did it! UPCC worked hard to bring out the parent vote and our efforts paid off. We look forward to working with the school board, District administrators, teachers and staff to put students’ interests first.”
“Now the real work begins. Our District is facing challenges, such as the need to improve our facilities, implement the new Common Core standards, provide additional teacher support, and improve our schools’ nutrition programs. We see those challenges as exciting opportunities.”
“Tuesday’s election results prove what ‘Parent Power’ can do. If you haven’t already joined us, we encourage you to do so. Together we’re going to make Culver City’s schools the best in the state.”
Founded in May 2012, United Parents of Culver City (UPCC) is a parent-run, grassroots, democratic organization dedicated solely to the interests of our children – the students of Culver City. UPCC members are volunteer leaders from all five elementary schools, CCMS, CCHS and Culver Park Continuation School. We are current and former PTA and Booster Club Presidents, trustees of the Culver City Education Foundation, and other parent leaders. Oh dear. Is that a stock photo, or real, live Culver City kids who’ve just “won” — wouldn’t want to mislead, would you?
