Culver-Palms and Westchester Family YMCAs are hosting Healthy Kids Day® 2013 on Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28, from 1 to 4pm, in Center Court at Westfield Culver City. YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day®, celebrated at 1,900 Ys on the same weekend across America, is the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of families and to help them get a jump on creating a healthier summer.
Summer is the time for kids to get up, get out and grow, but sometimes when the school year ends, so does a child’s exposure to activities that keep the body and mind active. Healthy Kids Day® includes fun active play and educational activities that will inspire kids to carry a spirit of excitement and exploration throughout the summer, and give them the tools to keep growing and achieving all year long.
Our Healthy Kids Day® Celebration is a free community event offering fun and challenging activities both days:
• Kids’ ZUMBA, hula, hip hop and cardio dance
• Wacky Monkey Obstacle Course
• A group art project creating a large banner-size image
• Play— Physical Learning Activities for Youth
• Photo opportunities with YMCA lifeguards
• Arts, crafts, and games at a mock mountain camp
• Basketball toss
• Learning about healthy snacks and creating personal trail mix combinations
YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day® is the largest health day for children and families in America. For more than 20 years, Healthy Kids Day has celebrated kids’ health and continues to teach healthy habits for kids and families, encourage active play, and inspire a lifetime love of physical activity.
We give special thanks to our sponsors whose generosity helps make Healthy Kids Day a free community event: Grey Block Pizza—Presenting Sponsor, FastSigns Culver City, Pacific Alarm Systems, Macy’s, Bill Farnum, Westfield Culver City, Miller Honda, Eco Dive Center, Cybex, Big Fat Pita, Water PT Specialists, AAA Flag & Banner, Dr. Vincent A Puturere, DC, Advanced Pool Tech, John Riordan Plumbing, Jozelle & Ken Smith, Karen Bradley Follette, and Subway.
