Not only were Mayor Andy Weissman and Rep. Holly Mitchell on hand to cheer the two-wheeler crowd headed for El Marino on Wednesday morning, they had quite a crowd to cheer on. Two hundred and eighty-one kids, along with another dozen or so parents, teachers and school officials.
Maggie Memmot Walsh, El Marino mom and CCEF board member, was there with her kids Iggie and Aine. “This is just awesome!” she enthused. As one of the parents who rides to school on a regular basis, it’s was heartening to her to see how many could participate with a bit more push.
International Walk to School day could be the start of much more foot traffic and lots less cars.
