Nat’l School Scrabble gets Culver City W-I-N-N-E-R

El Marino fourth-grader Cooper Komatsu and his eighth-grade partner, Lily Haines from Indiana, finished seventh in the nation in the 2012 National School Scrabble Championship held last weekend in Orlando, Florida.

The pair notched a 5-2 record with a +645 point differential in their seven games.

The tournament featured the best young Scrabble players in grades 4-8 from throughout the United States and Canada. Cooper was the first fourth-grader ever to finish in the tournament’s Top 10.
