Taking action all the way up until midnight on Sunday, Oct. 9, Governor Brown wrapped up the first year of the legislative session with a series of signed bills and vetoes. Unfortunately, the official database (and thus aroundthecapitol.com’s bill tracking) hasn’t been updated just yet, so Bill Updates probably won’t come until Friday Oct. 14.
Contra Costa Times reporter Steve Harmon’s tabulation of the governor’s actions this year counts 464 bills signed and 88 veteod. If that’s correct, that means that 1,945 bills didn’t make it out of the Legislature, most of which can be reconsidered after the Legislature returns January 4.
