Farragut Fan Club introduces a whole new way to show support for students at Farragut Elementary School: the Artworks! 2011 Online Auction is under way on the Internet at www.biddingforgood.com/artworksforfarragut.
The auction will run through Friday, April 15 at 8:00 PM (Pacific Time). Parents, friends and neighbors of Farragut Elementary School have been receiving emails about the auction, and have been forwarding those emails to invite an unlimited number of guests to virtually “attend” and take part in the auction. Members of the public can also participate by going to http://www.biddingforgood.com/artworksforfarragut. Thanks to the generosity of local donors, Farragut’s Artworks Committee has assembled an exciting catalog of more than 160 auction items to get people bidding.
Items up for bid include: a BMW Kid’s Bike, an Element Skateboard, a Hot Air Balloon Ride, an overnight stay at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, Field level tickets to a Dodger game, memberships to Spectrum and A Tighter U, passports to Theatre West productions, a class at Los Angeles School of Gymnastics, trips to San Francisco, Palm Springs and Newport Beach, and gift certificates for services such as photography sessions, home staging, dentistry, and counseling.
“Online auctions are ideal because they enable the entire community as well as family and friends from around the country, to help us raise funds for Farragut Elementary School’s art and music program,” says Christine Johnson, chairperson of Farragut’s Artworks! 2011 Committee.
Farragut has an “Arts and Technology” focus and parents have come together annually to raise money to keep art and music education at the school. Specifically, money raised by the auction will go toward covering the cost for a part-time Artist-in-Residence to teach bi-weekly art classes to children in all grades and music education for all students in partnership with wonderful organizations such as Do-Re-Mi, Symphonic Jazz Orchestra, L.A. Opera, and the Music Center. The auction will conclude with a gala event at Royal/T on Saturday, April 16. Tickets for the gala are available at farragutfanclub.org.
