It’s nice to see credit where credit is due; the prestigious James Beard Foundation has listed two Culver City restaurants, A-Frame and Waterloo & City, among the semi-finalists for the nation’s best new eateries of 2010.
The Beard Awards, dubbed by Time magazine as “the Oscars of the food world,” give out accolades every year for chefs, cookbooks and restaurants all over the country. For Culver City to have two venues in this category does gives us another claim to culinary fame, and a lovely sense of how deliciously spoiled we are. Congratulations are richly deserved.
Check in on March 21 for the announcement of the finalists. Meanwhile, a basket of those outrageous shrimp at A-Frame could be very satisfying, or maybe a bowl of that perfect corn chowder at Waterloo & City. There is certainly time for both.
The Judges at the Beard Foundation may not be open to persuasion, but you could comment here and let Crossroads know which restaurant is your favorite, and why…
Cool!! Looking forward to trying both of these places (hadn’t even heard of A-Frame yet, so they should thank you for getting the word out about them).
Buon Appetito & Salute!
We went to Waterloo & City’s Happy Hour for our Valentine’s Day celebration. Feasted on the tapas-like appetizers and wild mushroom pizza. Yum!
The A-Frame location seemed to be doomed as IHOP and then Cora’s. Hope they’ve broken the spell.
