Price is New Chair of Senate Committee

Senator Curren D. Price, Jr. (D-Los Angeles) was appointed the new chair of the Senate Business and Professions and Economic Development committee by Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg shortly after he was sworn in to his first full term as Senator of the 26th Senate District on Monday, Dec. 6.

The committee oversees legislation relating to business and professional practices and regulations other than bills relating to horse racing, alcoholic beverages, and oil, in addition to mining, geothermal, or forestry industries.

“I am extremely honored to be selected to head such an important and influential committee during this time of economic challenge in the state. I am committed to helping create an environment where economic development and job creation continue to grow.”

Senator Price replaces Senator Gloria Negrete-McLeod, the previous chair of BP&E. He also chairs the Select Committee on Procurement and the Legislative Black Caucus.
