AVPA Java Gala- June 12

Don’t t miss this one! More amazing talent than you can even legally fit under one roof, the AVPA students that have delighted us all year will be one their way to college, so see them now! Celebrating the 2009-2010 year, the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts’ (AVPA) Java Gala II will bring you a night of exciting entertainment honoring the many community partnerships that help support the Academy program. The AVPA Foundation is proud to sponsor this critical fundraising event to help ensure the continued success of all AVPA programs. The Kirk Douglas Theatre, 9820 Washington Boulevard in Culver City, will come alive on Saturday evening, June 12. The benefit starts at 6:30 pm with a reception in the lobby featuring an art exhibition, live music, a no-host wine bar, and a silent auction (cash and checks accepted). The main stage performance begins at 8:00 pm. Tickets are available online at www.avpa.org $40 general admission ($45 at the door). Limited $50 reserved preferred seating is available. Season Passes are not valid for this benefit event.

Audience members will be treated to Dance, Music, Film, Art and Theatrical production pieces. You will meet the talented performers and artists of the AVPA and are sure to be inspired by all. The two-hour program includes four acts, all thematically tied to this year’s Java Gala II theme of “DUETS.” Highlights from the year as well as newly developed pieces will feature AVPA’s partnerships with SONY, WLAC, CTG, MOCA, The Actor’s Gang, UCLA, and ART21 just to name a few.

AVPA’s residence at the Kirk Douglas Theatre is made possible by our affiliation with the Front and Center CCUSD Theatre Collaborative. Through Front and Center, Center Theatre Group is developing an ongoing partnership with AVPA, utilizing the artistic resources of CTG to connect and support the AVPA curriculum in mentoring students and creating unique learning opportunities at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. This collaborative is funded through generous grants from Sony Pictures Entertainment, The Collins Foundation and the Culver City Education Foundation.

The AVPA Foundation is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation 501(c)3 dedicated to supporting the arts education programs of the AVPA program at Culver City High School. All proceeds of Java Gala II will directly fund the AVPA’s classes, workshops and activities. For questions about the event contact [email protected].
