Friends of the Health Center Honor One of Their Own

The Friends of the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center recently honored Board Member Suzanne Wood, Secretary, at a hiking themed barbecue at the home of Dr. Sarah Carpenter, President. Suzanne has been actively involved with the Friends group since 2011 when she retired from teaching at Stoner Avenue Elementary. In addition to volunteering with the Friends Group, she also volunteers three days a week at her former school.
Suzanne records minutes at the monthly Friends’ board meetings as well as at other special meetings. Using that information, she reminds the board members of their deadlines and responsibilities, a very important job. Besides her duties as Secretary, Suzanne helps plan, coordinate, and execute the silent auction at the Friends annual major fundraiser. She also steps in to help with any other projects planned by the group.
Suzanne has lived in Culver City since 1979. Her daughter attended the Spanish Immersion Program at El Rincon and graduated from Culver City High School. Now that Suzanne is retired she participates in language and Tai Chi classes at the Culver City Senior Center when she isn’t busy giving her time energy to her volunteer endeavors.
The Sandy Segal Youth Health Center is located on the campus of Culver City High and Middle Schools. The Center, operated by the Venice Family Clinic, offers free physical and mental health care for Culver City Students. For more information about the Center contact Sarah Carpenter at [email protected].
