Bomb Threat Investigation at Southern California Hospital Turns Up No Evidence

On Tuesday, April 14, 2026,  the Culver City Police Department responded to the 3800 block of Delmas Terrace after a phone call of a bomb threat was reported.

At approximately 2:30 pm, a staff member at Southern California Hospital reported that an anonymous caller stated that there was “a bomb located outside the hospital that would hurt a lot of people.”

Officers responded immediately, secured the scene, and conducted a thorough search to ensure the safety of the area. The hospital staff activated their safety protocols for patients and staff. An explosives-detection dog and handler from the Manhattan Beach Police Department responded to assist in the search.

As a precaution, a portion of Delmas Terrace was temporarily closed during the investigation.

No explosive device or suspicious packages were located. By 4:00 pm, the search had concluded, and roads were reopened.

The report is being investigated as a false call commonly referred to as a “swatting.” Like the recent report of an active shooter at the Westfield/Fox Hills Mall on April 6, it’s a criminal form of a ‘prank’ call.

Swatting is a felony in the state of California.

“We are incredibly grateful for their swift, professional, and coordinated response. Their partnership, vigilance, and ongoing support are invaluable to our organization and the community we serve,” shared Chief Nursing Officer Marie Aragon.
