There was no vote; just direction to Culver City’s staff as to how it could work to have food trucks available at city parks.
The matter discussed by the council on July 27, 2026 concluded with Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Tomás Herrera‑Mishler reviewing what the council would consider approving to have a trial period of allowing food trucks to station next to parks in the city.
Food trucks, a staple at events like Fiesta La Ballona, are not currently allowed at parks. If and how it would benefit the community to allow them on a regular basis is under consideration.
“A lottery system was recommended for the pilot [program] and we were asked to look into… compostable foodware, although that sounds like it might be baked into the cake, so to speak.” Herrera-Mishler also noted that there would be surveys, and a consideration of matters like litter, in deciding whether the pilot could be considered successful.
During the initial presentation, the city offered that trucks would be limited to 26 feet of length, to fit them within the designated locations.
Sidewalk and/or cart vendors could also be considered for permits.
PRCS will return to a future meeting with more details, and at tha point, the council will vote to approve or disapprove the pilot program.
