David Voncannon passed away on July 27, 2025, after a lengthy illness and hospitalization.
A long time Culver City resident and active community member, he was a board member of the Culver Arts Foundation, a former Culver City Planning Commissioner, and an alumni of the Culver City Leadership program.
Voncannon also served on the Chamber of Commerce Board and stepped in as its acting president after the departure of Colin Diaz in 2022.
A long time member of the Exchange Club, he had a hand in many civic organizations.
His accolade as the 2024 Senior of the Year included an acceptance speech thanking his wife, Elizabeth. Receiving the honor from the City Council, he said “For those of us who are out [working ] in the community, it requires a great deal of time away from house and home. I couldn’t have done any of it without her.”
Voncannon was also co-founder of the Tellefson Park Neighborhood Association, and was on the Board of Directors the Culver-Palms YMCA.
No memorial plans have yet been announced.
