CCUSD – 2026 “Best Communities for Music Education”

The NAMM Foundation recognized Culver City Unified School District among the 2026 Best Communities for Music Education for the seventh consecutive year!

Now in its 27th year, the award recognizes schools and districts nationwide for their leadership in expanding equitable access to music education.

Dr. Tony Spano, the Music Director of the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, offered “This honor recognizes the hard work and dedication of all the music faculty across CCUSD. We have collaborated and supported each other to build a comprehensive music program – and we wouldn’t be able to do that without the advocacy and dedication of our district arts coordinator, Heather Moses.”

Recipients are selected through a rigorous application and review process that evaluates key indicators including district support, instructional time, participation rates, facilities and community support.

To uphold the program’s integrity and credibility, all applications are independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a leading research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts. This thorough process ensures that recognition reflects measurable achievement and sustained commitment.

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) is dedicated to advancing active music participation across all ages. It promotes music education through philanthropic grants, scientific research, and public service programs, including the Museum of Making Music.
