Dear Editor –
It’s election time again in Culver City. Even though the national headlines recently can elicit an intense sense of dread, numbness or listlessness there is still much that can be accomplished locally. I have not lived in Culver City for a full year. But, as someone who spent the prior 20 years as a resident (16 of which were spent serving on the council or a city committee), what happens in the city is of great concern to me.
A new lineup of candidates are vying for election or reelection this year from a variety of backgrounds. I am writing today to loudly and emphatically endorse the campaign of Bubba Fish.
Bubba has been an active transportation advocate, champion of diversity + inclusion and policy expert in Los Angeles County and at the State level. His passion for community is unmatched and his honesty and integrity are unquestioned.
Bubba was one of the lead organizers for Culver City’s first pride celebration and has continued to work hard each year to make sure that the event is a success and that people of all sexualities + gender identities feel welcome.
You can learn a lot about a person from their past actions. Bubba has shown up in solidarity for Black Lives, Womens’ Bodily Autonomy, Gun Control, and a host of other issues that do not affect him directly. Additionally, he spoke passionately about the need to close down the Inglewood Oil Field, strengthen the city’s polystyrene ban, and to move forward with a reparations process. He will surely be a council member who endeavors to understand and represent the entire city.
Bubba is the only candidate that I am supporting for either City Council or School Board. I hope he will have your support too!
