School Board Approves Partnership with UCLA Early Academic Outreach

The Culver City Unified School Board unanimously approved an agreement to partner with The Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) through The Regents of the University of California Los Angeles. A non-cost ‘memorandum of understanding’ was approved at the board meeting on March 12, 2024.

The goal of the EAOP is to help prepare students from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds to be competitive for college admission and to be college ready. The program provides services and opportunities directly to 9th and 10th grade students and parents to increase students’ academic competitiveness, including support for students to successfully complete the UC/CSU A-G requirements and college entrance exams so they can be eligible for the most selective colleges upon high school graduation.

Approval went beyond the sitting board members; the votes included two provisional votes from Student Board Members Sophia Gomez and Amarachi Ajay. Student board members are invited to cast non-binding votes indicating their support or dissent for any board agenda items that are of particular interest to them.
