Winning once feels great, but winning twice – that feels fantastic! On March 2, 2024, Lucas Vila of La Ballona Elementary won two honors at the California State PTA 33rd District Reflections Art Contest awards ceremony.
Vila was named the winner in the Musical Composition category of the Special Artist Division, for the 2023-2024 theme “I am Hopeful Because …” and while that seemed to be the high point of the afternoon, Vila was then announced as the winner of the California PTA Award of Excellence, a recognition that transcended boundaries and propelled him into the spotlight as the representative of the entire state. He will be representing California at the National PTA Awards.
