City Council and Cultural Affairs Award Almost $250,000 in Grants to Theater, Dance and Music Organizations

The City Council of the City of Culver City awarded a total of $244,960 in 2024 Performing Arts Grants at its December 11th meeting. Thirty non-profit arts organizations will receive grants to present music, dance, and theatre performances from January to December 2024. The Performing Arts Grant Program awards are based on independent scoring from arts experts and recommendations from the Cultural Affairs Commission. These performances, that provide arts-lovers and families with enriching and welcoming cultural opportunities, will take place at various indoor and outdoor locations throughout Culver City and will be free or have low-cost ticket options.

“Performing Arts are vital to ensuring we maintain the diversity and culture of Culver City,” said Culver City Mayor Yasmine-Imani McMorrin. “Thanks to our Cultural Affairs Commission and grant applicants, we look forward to welcoming artists dedicated to bringing their talent and stories to our audiences in 2024 and beyond.”

“The City of Culver City has been a crucial partner for our programming at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, as we bring world-class theatrical experiences to the Culver City community. We hope you can join us at the theatre soon,” the Center Theatre Group wrote.

The Culver City Performing Arts Grant Program was established in 1994 as part of the City’s Art in Public Places Program, offering project grants to non-profit performing arts organizations in Los Angeles County. Under the purview of the City’s Cultural Affairs Commission, the grant program supports local arts organizations and provides Culver City audiences with enriching and accessible cultural opportunities. Funding for the 2024 Performing Arts Grant Program is from Culver City’s Cultural Trust Fund with an additional contribution from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
