The City of Culver City is pleased to announce that Ted Stevens is the City’s new Parks, Recreation, and Community Services (PRCS) Director. Upon accepting the position, Ted said, “I am truly honored to begin this exciting journey as the new Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director in this incredible city. Joining this dynamic team of dedicated professionals, I look forward to collaborating and contributing to enhance the quality of life for our residents. Together, we’ll make this city an even greater place to live, work, and play.”
Ted Stevens will be stepping into this position on November 6, 2023, following the retirement of PRCS Director Armando Abrego.
Stevens, who has extensive experience in local government, has most recently served as the Recreation Superintendent for the City of Long Beach’s Community Recreation Services Department. During his career, he has managed 12 full-time supervisors and up to 250 part-time employees.
Ted’s experience includes overseeing Citywide programs, such as Adult and Youth Sports, Beach and Sports Fields Permits, Adaptive Recreation programs, three municipal swimming pools, three community centers and one regional community center. Ted has been successful in developing and maintaining relationships with local non-profit organizations and numerous community groups and associations. As the new PRCS Director, Ted will be directly involved in the Bill Botts Fields and Veterans Memorial Park Feasibility Study, which is a comprehensive visioning project to determine how these two parks will accommodate the community’s 21st century needs for indoor and outdoor recreational, community meeting, event and cultural facilities.
The PRCS Department is responsible for providing recreational, wellness, and park-related services, as well as facilitating the delivery of selected senior and social services to assist in the health and well-being of our community.
