CCUSD School Board Approves Teachers Contract

At the June 13, 2023 Culver City Unified School District Board of Education meeting,  the Board unanimously approved the Culver City Federation of Teachers (CCFT) negotiated agreement. Key points in the agreement include an 8% salary increase for all teachers plus an increase in health benefits; bi-annual longevity pay for all school counselors; a $10,000 stipend for all school nurses, and the addition of a $1,500 dual language stipend and a $3,414 stipend for the girls lacrosse assistant coach.

The contract, which had been in negotiation over those issues and a professional development addition to the calendar, had seen teachers protesting before the school board meetings in May. The increase in both salary and health benefits satisfies a long-standing point of negotiation, and the stipend for school nurses reflects the enormous amount of extra work put in by the CCUSD health care staff because of the pandemic.

In addition, new members were appointed to the Measure K Parcel Tax Oversight Committee: El Marino parent Stephanie Mesones Alvarado, Lin Howe & CCHS Parent Dale Larson; and current committee member Aaron Dowling was reappointed for another two-year term.
