It’s rare for local politicians to get national spotlight, but Culver City’s Vice Mayor Yasmine Imani McMorrin has hit the mark. Essence Magazine, a national staple of Black American media since 1970, has featured an interview with McMorrin for April 2023.
McMorrin has a lot on her resume beyond her City Council credits. A graduate of Spelman College, with a JD from Rutgers she is also the Director of Education Equity at the California’s Children’s Defense Fund. She got into local politics through her volunteer work with the PTA, and the rest is well on it’s way to becoming history.
