Proclaiming the Post-Pandemic Era; City to End COVID Emergency in April

Since March of 2020, there were 11,718 reported cases of COVID 19 in Culver City, and deaths caused by the virus numbered 159. The number of cases in LA County was listed as 3,712,457, as of March 8, 2023, and the death toll was listed as 35,792. the county’s numbers are inclusive of Culver City’s statistics.

The Culver City City Council voted to terminate the COVID-19 local emergency as of April 1, 2023 at its February 27, 2023 City Council meeting. At its meeting on March 27, 2023, the City Council will consider an urgency ordinance regarding the commercial tenant eviction moratorium, to ensure that the City remains able to enforce requirements related to repayment plans. The City Council will also discuss whether to make permanent limitations on third-party food delivery fees, which were put in place during the pandemic.

California’s COVID-19 emergency ended on February 28, 2023, Los Angeles County’s COVID-19 emergency declaration is planned to end on March 31, 2023 and the federal COVID-19 emergency is slated to end May 11, 2023.
