Habari Gani! Join us at Ivy Station in Culver City as we celebrate the UJAMAA (Cooperative Economics) principle of KWANZAA. Vendors from Culver City and throughout the Los Angeles area will sell their wares in a festive environment that includes fun, food trucks, drinks and entertainment.
After a tenure that included beginning a local reparations process, a participatory budgeting process, bringing rent control to Culver City, closing down the Inglewood Oil Field, grating Hero Pay for hospital and grocery workers, voting to raise the general minimum wage + raising the minimum wage for hospital workers to $25, bringing on demand childcare and permanent hybrid (in person and online) meetings and strengthening the city’s ban on single use plastics Lee opted to end his tenure with a community event.
“Culver City has changed in many ways over the last few years”, Dr. Lee opined. “We are seen as a progressive leader in LA County and throughout California. I wanted to conclude my time on the council with an event that emphatically celebrates that change and brings the community together.”
Black vendors from around Southern California will offer a variety of products from clothing and books to jewelry and organic food items. Inglewood based Black beer brewer Crowns and Hops will provide libations. Vegan and Non-Vegan food trucks will provide delicious food (which can be purchased at a 100% discount with a picture from the photo booth).
Performer Eric Gray will provide music throughout the event along with a cross-generational band of seasoned jazz musicians.
The event will take place on December 16, 2022 from 5-10pm at Ivy Station in Culver City.
