(Almost Final ) Election Updates – Races Hold Steady, Measure VY Still in Play

PROVO, UT - November 6: A employee at the Utah County Election office puts mail in ballots into a container to register the vote in the midterm elections on November 6, 2018 in Provo, Utah. Utah early voting has been the highest ever in Utah's midterm elections. One of the main proportions on the ballot in Utah is whether Utah will legalize medical marijuana. While all the ballots have been counted, and both the City Council and School Board Elections look settled, Measure VY is still in play, only 3 votes short of a win.

The City Council race will see Dan O’Brien and Freddy Puza as new council members, and Brian Guerrero, Tristan Ezidore and Stephanie Loredo seated as new members of the Culver City Unified School District Governing Board.

Measure BL to change the city’s Business License Tax will pass, with just over 60% of the voter going in favor. But Measure VY has been slowly adding numbers at every ballot count, and is now a bare 49.99% YES to 50.01% NO, only three votes difference.

Ballots are still being ‘cured,’ a process that allows ballots with signature issues to be re-submitted, so there is still a path to victory for the municipal vote for 16 and 17 year olds.

Los Angeles County will certify election results on Dec. 16, 2022.
