Folding chairs, blankets and pizza are all listed as things to bring to the Main Event, a party to celebrate Main Street being open for pedestrian and bicycle access on weekends.
Bike Culver City is inviting residents to “Join with friends and neighbors for this week’s B.Y.O.P (Buy Your Own Pizza) Party on Main St. Culver City this Saturday, July 16th from 4 pm to 7 pm.”
After being closed to auto traffic, and open for outdoor dining, for many months following initial COVID lockdowns, Culver City’s Main Street was reopened to cars earlier this Spring, with a few asterisks. The Tuesday afternoon Farmer’s Market has kept autos off the asphalt for years. Keeping the street open for pedestrians and bicycle traffic on weekends went into effect on June 28, 2022. So, you can park or drive on Main Street only on Mondays, Tuesday mornings, and Wednesdays through Fridays.
Community activists from Bike Culver City are promoting the party to keep the space car-free and invite any and all to join in for a DIY pizza party.
