Salt & Straw announced today it will reimburse travel expenses for its full-time and part-time team members who need to travel to another state for health care services, including abortions.
The ice cream company is a Portland-based, family-run ice cream company that was founded in 2011 by cousins Kim & Tyler Malek. Salt & Straw is known for making unbelievably delicious ice creams that tell the narrative of artisans, meaningful food movements and important social causes.
“We know from experience that these types of restrictions put women’s health at great risk. As business leaders, we need to make our voices heard and act to protect the health and well-being of our team. This has always been our company’s priority, and it includes protecting this deeply personal decision,” said Kim Malek, Founder and CEO of Salt & Straw.
