Freshman of All Ages Covered by Zero Tuition Program at WLAC

To assist recent high school graduates and others interested in starting or restarting their college journeys, West Los Angeles College is hosting a series of free information sessions throughout the Spring and Summer to help students find the right program of study, careers and support resources to succeed in college and beyond.

As the Biden administration advocates for $0 tuition in community colleges, this program already exists at West. First-time, full-time freshmen of any age and household income may qualify for two years of no-cost tuition through the College Promise program at West.

Information sessions are held Mondays at 3:30pm. Register at WLAC.edu/High-School

Part-time students may qualify for $0 tuition through fee waivers. West is also incorporating $0 cost online textbooks into many of its classes. In fact, all Communication Studies courses and many Business courses now use free online materials. Students who qualify can receive textbook vouchers to cover the cost of purchased of rented books through EOPS, a student support program.

FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND RECENT GRADUATES
Summer is a great time to get a jump start on college. Current high school students can earn college credit while still in high school and do so tuition free. Students who will graduate from high school in June or did so in the last few years can participate in a free, one-week summer transition to college program where they will get assistance understanding college systems, accessing resources, selecting appropriate classes and more.

CAREER DEGREES
Degree and certificate programs take from one semester to two years to complete. Most lead to jobs paying from $40,000 – $50,000+ in high demand areas. By attending an online information session, students can learn more about academic programs and career paths. The next sessions include the following.
