Today’s Wende Online discussion on Cold War Spaces will have Wende Curator Joes Segal interview guest Professor Tony Shaw, a noted specialist in twentieth-century history of film and propaganda and author of Hollywood’s Cold War. The pair will discuss the role of American (and some Soviet) films in supporting and subverting dominant Cold War narratives.
Segal offers, “We will speak about adaptations of George Orwell’s Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four, Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove, Andrei Tarkovsky’s films in the Soviet Union and other defining moments in Cold War film history.”
