Coronavirus Keeps 9/11 Commemorations Closed to the Public

This year marks the 19th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The Culver City Police and Fire Departments will be remembering 9/11, but it will look much different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As there continues to be widespread transmission of the Coronavirus in LA County, this year’s remembrance ceremony to honor the men, women, children and first responders who lost their lives as a result of the September 11, 2001 attacks will be closed to the public.

Public Health emphasizes that it is important to not gather with people who are not part of your household as it puts you at a greater risk for COVID-19. It is still safest to stay at home and avoid gatherings, even if everyone present is taking precautions.

The Culver City Fire Department looks forward to inviting you back to the stations and gathering in support of one another after the pandemic is behind us. In the meantime, we will remember together while apart.
