Dear Editor – Small, Hackman and Conflict of Interest

Dear Editor,

Although the details of the Small/Hackman relationship are not clear from anything that I’ve seen from Mr. Small, the concerns raised by Mr. Greenberg are serious. On the face of it, Mr. Small clearly should have recused himself from all issues involving Hackman before the city council. Now that we know that Small has decided not to run again for a city council seat because of his connections with Hackman (CCF) it makes sense that he should have recused himself earlier or to have resigned from his seat. Clearly, an effective whistleblower hotline of the sort described by Mr. Greenberg might have allowed conflicts of interest of the sort alluded to between Small and Hackman to have been nipped in the bud.
