The Culver City Council meeting on Monday August 12, 2020 had a shorter Consent Calendar than had been originally released; it was missing the controversial funding proposal for an outside security company to take over staffing of the CCPD jail.
The agenda item, which was framed as being a routine approval for expenditure, drew concern from the community. More than $2 million dollars was being requested by the police to hire G4S Security Solutions, a company that had been the recent subject of investigation by USAToday.
Like the recent request for funding to purchase a BearCat vehicle, this item was withdrawn from the agenda in the interval between publication and the meeting.
If and how it might return to the council is yet to be determined.
