Quinn Restores Power for First Day of School

The scheduled power outages that SoCal Edison notices to various Culver City neighborhoods from time to time can come up at the worst possible moment; a slice of Carlson Park had been notified that they would be ‘dark’ on the first day of school, August 20, 2020. Affecting almost a hundred homes, there was no way to know how many children would be unable to connect with their first day of the new school year. CCUSD Assistant Superintendent Robert Quinn stepped in to intercede, and SoCal Edison has responded by moving the project.

With ‘distance learning’ still the order of the day, it’s could have been tough spot for the Culver City Unified students living in the neighborhood. A power pole that was to be replaced will be now be scheduled for a Saturday in the future.

CCUSD families living in the Carlson Park neighborhood can expect a fresh notice from Edison, letting them know the date for the power outage has changed, and that August 20 will be connected for distance learning.
