AVPA Student Films Selected for All American Festival

Three of CCUSD’s six AVPA Sony Films have been selected to be in the All American High School Film Festival (AAHSFF) in New York – the world’s largest and most prestigious film festival for high school students!

“In the six years that I’ve been involved with AVPA Film (as a parent volunteer, board member, and now creative director), I’ve not known of any film that has been selected to be in this festival,” said Holly Gable, Creative Director, AVPA Film.

Big congrats to graduating senior Alex Dashwood for his film “Girl Scout Cookies,” to rising senior Rowan Levi for “It Came From the Crossroads,” and rising junior Melody Caudill for “Duet.”

While AAHSFF had hoped to hold its festival in person in October, it recently made the decision to transition to a virtual event. The 2020 AAHSFF will now be hosted online via Eventive Virtual Festival, a platform that allows for a premium on-demand and live stream experience for all attendees.

“We’ll offer the same interactive experience you’ve come to expect, with equal parts entertainment and education as well as new offerings like several FREE events, audience voting and polls, expanded filmmaker profiles and official selection information, live chats and commentary, and unique networking opportunities so that everyone can connect and share their love for all things film!” said Tom Oliva of AAHSFF and Crave Arts. “We look forward to welcoming all of you to our temporary 2020 “home” and appreciate your continued support!”
