Culver City Sets 4 PM Curfew for June 1

From the CCPD, at 10 am on June 1, 2020; “Curfew is currently scheduled for 4 pm, but we are monitoring the situation to see if that needs to be moved up.” In surrounding cities, Beverly Hills has set a 4 pm curfew, Santa Monica has set a 1 pm curfew, and Los Angeles has a curfew set for 6 pm.

From US News, “Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti denounced the mayhem as having nothing to do with protests by those outraged by the death of George Floyd, a handcuffed black man seen in a video pleading for air as a white Minneapolis officer pressed a knee on his neck. Criminals are wrong to think that they can hijack this message, undermine this movement and divide us — they will not,” Garcetti said.

Culver City Mayor Goran Eriksson offered “Like many of you, I am deeply saddened. frustrated and angry. I stand with all of you who are condemning the horrific actions of the police officers in Minneapolis and who are mourning the unnecessary death of yet another black man at the hands of those sworn to protect him. We should not tarnish the memory of George Floyd by rioting and looting in our own community. Such actions only serve to divide us further. Yesterday, a few stores in Culver City were broken into and looted, and while I understand the deep and powerful emotions that people across the country are feeling, this is not the answer or something we accept.”

Culver CityBus Service will be cancelled again tonight starting at 8 PM on Monday, June 1 until 5:30 AM on Tuesday, June 2 in order to ensure the safety of our passengers, drivers, and buses. If you need a ride home during this time please contact Culver CityBus Customer Service at (310) 253-6500.
