The Last Stand – Screening and Q & A with Sheila Laffey

The Last Stand; Struggle for the Ballona Wetlands will screen this Tuesday June 19, 2019 at the Sierra Club Airport-Marina Group Meeting at Burton Chace Park. This award winning documentary produced by Sheila Laffey examines the controversial land use issues related to the Playa Vista development and Ballona Wetlands. It also covers the little known importance of wetlands, 96% of which have been lost in Southern California.

Films in Laffey’s three part ‘Ballona Wetlands’ series won over ten awards, including a Cine Golden Eagle and several Best Documentary awards, and two of the features aired on PBS stations. The short update (The Last Stand: Heroes at Ballona Wetlands) won a Telly Award for “Natural Heroes.”

Tuesday June 18, 7 p.m. (doors open 6:30 p.m.)
