A Tale of Two Clarinets – May 26

Towards the end of their respective lives Mozart and Brahms met clarinetists whose playing so caught their attention that each composed Quintets for Clarinet and String Quartet. For Mozart it was it was Anton Stadler, and for Brahms it was Richard Mühlfeld.

There are no other works like these two quintets, and their combination in one concert is a spellbinding event, even a spiritual event for some since both works are a type of summing-up of their lives.

SoCal Symphony Society/Culver City Symphony Orchestra presents a season ending chamber music concert of the two quintets, and Schubert’s Quartettsatz, with the New Hollywood String Quarter joined by Joshua Ranz.

There will be a post-concert reception and the pulling of our annual raffle.
