SJO Family Jazz Hour @ Farragut Swinging Success

On Tuesday evening, May 7th members of the Symphonic Jazz Orchestra performed a special free “Family Jazz Hour” concert for students and their families at Farragut Elementary in Culver City.

The musical theme of the evening was ‘Swing’ and the musicians took the audience through the history of swing, performing such hits as “Sing Sing Sing” “Puttin’ on the Ritz” and “It Don’t Mean a Thing if it Ain’t Got that Swing,” where the band was joined by 2nd grade students on vocals.

The event was made possible in part by the City of Culver City, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Performing Arts Grant Program, with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment. Special thanks to Farragut Elementary and their PTA for hosting the fun evening and to the Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation for donating books to every student who attended the concert.
