The Actors’ Gang – Much Ado About Avengers

You know it’s summer when the Actors’ Gang is coming outside to play; this year’s Shakespeare/Pop culture mash-up is an awesome blend of comic book heroes and and the perennial classic Much Ado About Nothing. Every Saturday and Sunday through the month of August, 11 am at Media Park (in front of the Ivy Substation, where the Actors’ Gang plays indoors.) Bring blankets or lawn chairs and coolers of snacks, along with the whole family for a morning of outdoor theatrical delight, certainly one of the best things to do in Los Angeles this summer. Each performance is followed by a treat celebration where you can meet and take selfies with the characters!

Thor, Prince of Aragon, sends word that he is visiting Black Panther, the governor of Messina, after a victorious military superhero engagement elsewhere. He arrives chaperoned by Loki, his half-brother, with whom he has quarreled and recently reconciled, and his friends and fellow superheroes, Captain America and Iron Man. They are greeted warmly by Black Panther and his delightful daughter, Gamora, and their witty relative, Black Widow, both of marriageable age. The anti-romantic Iron Man and Black Widow immediately resume a long-standing “merry war” of words, but Captain America and Gamora are smitten by love-at-first-sight and are betrothed at a masked ball, mainly through the efforts of Thor. And then there are Scarlet Witch, Hulk, Spiderman and Thanos, all in this summer’s wicked funny lush, romantic superhero Avengers take on Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.

MUCH ADO ABOUT AVENGERS, adapted by Cynthia Ettinger and Will Thomas McFadden and directed by Cynthia Ettinger, is our 12th free adaptation of Shakespeare, playing every weekend in August for families, in Media Park, in front of The Actors’ Gang Theater, at The Ivy Substation.

This delgihtful summer show is supported in part by the California Arts Council, a state agency. Learn more at www.arts.ca.gov. This performance is made possible in part by a Culver City Performing Arts Grant with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
