This month Black Talkies on Parade presents one of our favorite classic films, the iconic musical Cabin in the Sky. This classic has an all-star cast that includes Ethel Waters, Lena Horne, Eddie “Rochester” Anderson, and Louis Armstrong. The film tells the story of Little Joe Man, who after a deadly night of gambling is given six more months on earth to redeem his soul in order to enter heaven. Cabin in the Sky is the debut Hollywood feature by director Vincente Minelli and features the Academy Award nominated song “Happiness is a Thing Called Joe.”
