State Lawmakers to Establish $20 Million in Grants for Health Clinics

building_exteriorWith support from Sen. Holly J. Mitchell, California Treasurer John Chiang will join state lawmakers and health care advocates to announce the establishment of a $20 million one-time emergency grants program to support community clinics that provide vital health services to California’s most vulnerable residents.

The Community Clinic Lifeline Grant Program will help small or rural nonprofit clinics, including Planned Parenthood clinics, keep their doors open and provide critical services as lawmakers work to address the potential losses in health care funds due to threatened federal actions such as repealing the Affordable Health Care and eliminating funding for essential women’s health and preventative services.
The announcement will be made on the capitol steps in Sacramento at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2017
