“Backpacks” Food Drive Needs Donations & Volunteers – You Can Help

Backpack-Items-1-2The Culver City Backpacks for Kids Program feeds around 100 families each weekend during the school year. The program is completely community supported and does not receive any funding from the school district or the state. One of our most successful fundraising events are food drives held at local super markets.

Would you like to volunteer to hand out fliers? Would you like to add something to your next shopping trip and drop it off in our collection bins?

Come on down to the Ralphs at Overland and Jefferson Saturday, April 23, from 10am to 8 pm, or Sunday April 24 from 10 am to 4 pm.

If you can’t make it this weekend, but would still like to help, make a donation through the website so we can optimize the dollars and buy food when needed. www.CCBackpacksforKids.com .

Please note, we are only collecting a specific set of food items that are shelf-stable and components of a menu created by the Los Angeles Food Bank.

During the food drive we are in need of volunteers to work 2 hour shifts (see below) throughout the day passing out flyers and asking people to purchase items for the backpacks while in the store. We also need help gathering the food and loading it into cars to take to the pantry.

So please if you can find the time yourself or pass this message on to others who may be looking for service hours or just want to get involved we would greatly appreciate it!
