Summer volleyball camps for boys and girls of all abilities and experience in four day sessions, July 13-30, will be conducted by the Culver Volleyball Club at the Culver City middle and high schools. Former Culver City High School volleyball head coach and athletic director Marty Siegal and his staff will offer three levels of instruction.
“Last summer, the improvement of our day campers was phenomenal. Participants went from no volleyball experience to making school teams and earning roster spots on high-level club teams,” Siegal said.
Boys and girls, grades 4-9, in session one, July 13-16, 4-7 p.m., will learn volleyball fundamentals and movement patterns in a safe and comfortable day camp environment, according to Siegal. Instructors demonstrate and explain techniques and tactics, and subsequent drills are designed to give as many quality contacts as possible.
“This introduction to volleyball skills will be a valuable start for youngsters who may want to play for club or competitive school teams,” said Siegal. Fees are $165.
Youth in grades 5-9 with limited experience in school or beach volleyball will learn advanced transition skills, July 20-23, 4-7 pm. Fees are $165.
Experienced players in grades 6-12 will participate, July 27-30, 8:30 am-12:30 pm, with accomplished club coaches who will demonstrate proper movement patterns and mechanics of volleyball and provide participants with countless repetitions and feedback. Designed to prepare players for their middle school or high school teams, this session will cover more advanced transition skills. Fees are $180.
Siegal suggests players wear proper volleyball clothing, and bring snacks and bottled water to each day of camp.

“Summer participation is an excellent path to improving your game, making new friends, and getting to know your coaches,” said Siegal.
