The Last Sunday, our extraordinarily successful Evening of Poetry and Art event is this Sunday night, April 26th from 7:15 to 9:30 pm at the USVAA Theater in Culver City.
The Last Sunday (April 2015) features powerful readings by poets Deanna Barone and Bill Friday, Poet’s Open Mic in an exquisite club-like atmosphere filled with amazing art by Roberto Carlos Zea (Veteran, USMC), Thomas Dang (Veteran, USMC) and Joseph Umali Fernandez (Veteran, US Navy).
The Last Sunday is free to all — donations requested. As part of USVAA’s ongoing commitment to assisting veterans across the country by highlighting issues of importance to the veterans community, a portion of all contributions from program will be used to assist fellow veteran Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s 10,000 Strong Veterans Hiring Initiative and the Mayor’s commitment to assist Homeless Veterans in Los Angeles County by providing easy access to the wide array of veterans services available through the 211LA county services portal.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Sony Pictures Entertainment Veterans Bridge Group and everyone at Sony for their generous 2014 and 2015 contributions to USVAA. Donations from SPE and our other major donors supports USVAA in two primary ways: To Assist and recognize talented veterans working in the arts and humanities throughout the United States, and to Provide veterans with greater opportunities to fully participate in America’s creative economy.
We would like to again acknowledge and thank Jennifer Brown and Joe Gardner (Veteran, U.S. Army) of Working Class Productions and Jerry Della Salla (Veteran, U.S. Army) and their entire team of veterans and artists for making The Lat Sunday; An Evening of Poetry and Art at USVAA possible.
