13-225x300It’ll be a busy Thanksgiving for Grace (Evangelical Lutheran) Church members: volunteers will be bringing desserts and hors d’oeuvres plus volunteering for Meals on Wheels deliveries and Grace Diner duty. Setup starts 9:00 a.m. Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. Then at 10:00 a.m. there will be a worship service with their sister church, St. Mary’s of Palms (at Grace, 4427 Overland Avenue). Meals on Wheels deliveries are scheduled from 11:00 am. – 12:00 p.m., then a Thanksgiving Dinner for Grace Diner patrons and others who may not have a family dinner of their own to enjoy can dig in from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Cleanup takes place promptly from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., then its home for many of the volunteers to start carving their own bird!

Have you heard about “Shop Small Business Saturday?” A number of years ago American Express started this promotion, and now the Saturday following Thanksgiving has turned into a national promotion that is now marketed for a month prior to the actual day. The definition of small business varies from business category to business category under federal guidelines, but there are hundreds if not thousands of truly small family or individual businesses of 1-5 employees, many franchise holders that have invested in the American Dream through a purchase of a national franchise, and many businesses that because of their size in comparison to the industry that they have decided to enter are also thought of as small businesses, such as car dealers or hospitality businesses. Think before you shop, and let’s all “Shop Small” on Saturday, November 29, 2014 and the entire year!

Is this cool or what? The Culver City Education Foundation suggests that if or when you’re considering buying or selling your home, that you call/text Heather Coombs Perez directly at (310)259-7419. If you mention CCEF / CCUSD (Culver City Unified School District) Heather & Art will give back 10% of their net proceeds at the close of escrow. Exceptional service, best results AND they support CCEF!
