In a world that seems to have gone crazy, The Whole 9 and The Peace Project are proud to bring together artists, local businesses, families and community members to celebrate the intersection of art and peace.
he Whole 9 is proud to present the 3rd Affair of The Arts” on September 20 & 21 in downtown Culver City at the intersection of Culver Blvd. and Main Street. The free outdoor festival showcases 60 of Southern California’s premiere painters, photographers, sculptors, and glass, ceramics and jewelry artists and also includes live music. Proceeds from the festival will support the construction of 200 “instant houses” for families who lost their homes to Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
Held on World Peace weekend (September 21st is International Day of Peace), Affair of the Arts acts as a celebration and a reminder that art and community can help bring about a more peaceful world. “For the past four years, we’ve been using the power of TheWhole9.com’s artists’ community to fuel change through the non-profit Peace Project’s local and international initiatives. Affair of the Arts has grown into another powerful way we can bring people in the community together around art and raise awareness of our collective ability to create a more peaceful world.“ shared Lisa Schultz, Founder of TheWhole9.com and The Peace Project.
In addition to visual arts, Affair of the Arts features two days of live, eclectic music from some of LA’s most loved musicians. Adults and children will also be able to participate in interactive art projects like Pinwheels for Peace led by Culver City’s Echo Horizon School, plus there will be other activities including a Peace Flash Mob, and face painting. Downtown Culver City restaurants will be welcoming festival attendees with food and beverage specials.
