Hooray! The Culver City Julian Dixon Library’s regular hours have been restored! (Just in time for it to close for remodeling? No, we won’t be that cynical…) The LA County Board of Supervisors has increased library budgets so that hours can be increased – effective this Monday, September 2 the hours are as follows: Mondays through Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Fridays, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The Library, located at 4975 Overland Avenue, will be closed on Sunday.

It’s not ALL about football…The Culver-Palms Family YMCA’s Fantasy Fitness Challenges kicks off this Thursday, September 4th at 5:00 p.m. at Islands in the Howard Hughes Center. The Fantasy Fitness Challenge is described as “an upbeat approach to developing a successful workout program during the regular 17-week football season,” which is correct, since we’ve participated in it before! Teams (named after NFL and AFL teams) try to get to their own Super Bowl by scoring more points for various workout programs than the next team. Just to get everyone in the mood, the kick-off will feature the opening game of the NFL season – the Packers vs. Seahawks – on the giant TV screens throughout the restaurant.
