Expo Construction on Venice Blvd. Begins Aug. 27

57733-fullThe Expo Construction Authority would like to let you know what streets to avoid and when to avoid them –  from Wednesday, August 27, 2014 through Friday, October 24, 2014, construction will be ongoing with 24-Hour Work Shifts, seven days a week on the North side of Venice Boulevard, between Culver Boulevard and National Boulevard.

Don’t go there.

As part of the street widening and roadway improvements, work crews will conduct sidewalk/roadway reconstruction, installation of storm drains, catch basins, traffic signals and street lighting, and the realignment and restriping of traffic lanes. Additional street improvements on the north side of Venice Boulevard east of National Boulevard will follow, and a supplemental notice will be issued.

Starting the week of August 25, 2014, temporary lane closures will be implemented on Westbound Venice Boulevard during nighttime hours for the relocation of K-Rail and restriping of traffic lanes to delineate the new work areas along the north side of the street.
Additional intermittent nighttime lane closures will be implemented throughout construction.

Pedestrian access for the north side will be maintained at all times either via a designated pedestrian walkway or detour.
Ellis Avenue at Venice Boulevard will be closed for approximately 2 weeks within this timeframe.
Northbound Robertson Boulevard south of Venice Boulevard will be reduced to one thru lane with dedicated left and right turn lanes for approximately 4 weeks within this timeframe.
Westbound Venice Boulevard will remain two lanes of through traffic between Ivy Street and Robertson Boulevard. Three lanes of traffic will be maintained west of Robertson Boulevard.

Southbound National Boulevard will be reduced to one lane of traffic through the Venice Boulevard intersection for three weeks, and the crosswalk on the west side of National Boulevard will remain closed.

The bus stop located on the north side of Venice Boulevard at Robertson Boulevard will be temporarily relocated, and specific signage will advise of the new temporary bus stop location.
Directional signage and/or flaggers will be used to safely direct vehicles and pedestrians around the construction zone.
Temporary parking restrictions will be required and strictly enforced at all times. Signage with specific restrictions will be in place in all construction areas.
Local access to businesses and residences will be maintained throughout all construction activities.
Please obey all posted construction signs and do not enter the construction work zone.
