Halo Award for Youth Health Center President

DSC02045Dr. Sarah Carpenter, Culver City resident and new President of the Friends of the Culver City Youth Health Center, has been awarded a Halo Award which “celebrates everyday angels” for her years of volunteer work providing medical care for young people in the community. The award is presented by The Carl & Roberta Deutsch Foundation to volunteers who go above and beyond to promote the betterment of their communities, and the nonprofit organizations whose work motivates and supports such volunteers.
Dr. Carpenter was nominated for the honor by the Venice Family Clinic which operates the Culver City Youth Health Center located on the campus of Culver City High School and Culver City Middle School. She began volunteering for the Venice Family Clinic in 1984 and continued her service through the years by helping at the Health Center starting in 1990. When Dr. Carpenter retired in 2012 she became more active at the Health Center and more involved in the Friends group. She was elected President of the Friends of the CC Youth Health Center last year.
The monetary award to the honorees is $20,000 for the Venice Family Clinic and $5,000 for Dr. Carpenter which she generously donated to the CC Youth Health Center. Dr. Carpenter stated, “I received this award because of my work at the Health Center and I am very happy to be able to donate this gift to continue the great work that is being done to keep our children healthy.”
